About Scotts Kitchen
The sun hits our terrace around 10am most mornings, warming the wooden tables as we prep for another day at Scotts Kitchen. From up here on Victoria Terrace, you get one of the best views in Edinburgh - right down onto Victoria Street with its curved cobblestones and colorful shopfronts that photographers love so much. We opened our doors in August 2017 as part of the Howies Restaurant family, just a 30-second stroll from The Royal Mile. Our kitchen team starts early, working with the daily deliveries from local Scottish suppliers - maybe fresh langoustines from the west coast or grass-fed beef from the Borders. Everything we serve reflects what Scotland's larder offers each season. Our space works brilliantly for private dining. We can host up to 55 guests across our indoor dining room and that south-facing terrace. There's no hire fee - we just ask for a minimum spend, which makes planning straightforward. Our chefs create bespoke menus for each event, whether you're celebrating a birthday, planning an anniversary dinner, or organizing a small wedding reception. The kitchen stays busy from 9am when we open until 5pm. Morning means full Scottish breakfasts and proper coffee, then we transition into lunch service with our daily catch and seasonal plates. Afternoons bring cocktail hour on the terrace, where guests sip local craft beers and spirits while watching the Old Town bustle below. We've found our spot works especially well for intimate weddings - couples love saying their vows with Edinburgh Castle in the distance, then celebrating with their closest friends over dinner. The combination of our historic Old Town location, that spectacular terrace view, and honest Scottish cooking creates something special for any gathering.
