The 1 Foyle Room occupies the eastern section of our venue's top floor, where morning light pours through floor-to-ceiling windows that run the entire length of the space. From your seat at the boardroom table, you'll watch cargo ships drift past on the North Sea while seagulls wheel overhead, a view that tends to spark more creative thinking than your typical conference room wall. We've configured this room to work hardest for smaller groups who need focus. The rectangular table seats 28 comfortably for board meetings, though we regularly reconfigure the space for classroom layouts (16 people), U-shaped arrangements (20), or theatre style when you need all 40 chairs facing forward. The exposed ceiling beams create interesting acoustics, actually helping voices carry clearly across the room without echo. Our AV setup includes a built-in projector that drops from the ceiling, speakers positioned for even sound distribution, and a PA system for larger presentations. The electric blinds glide down smoothly when you need to darken the room for slides. We keep a whiteboard tucked in the corner, plus flipcharts if you prefer working old-school. The private terrace connects directly through glass doors, giving your group somewhere to step out during coffee breaks. Most meeting organisers use this outdoor space for informal discussions or simply to clear heads between sessions. Our in-house team can arrange refreshments throughout the day, from proper coffee that actually tastes good to locally-sourced lunch options. The train from London St Pancras takes 90 minutes, dropping you at Margate station just 10 minutes' walk away. Many groups build in time to view our current exhibitions downstairs, which we can arrange as private tours between meeting sessions.
