About Turner Contemporary
Turner Contemporary stands out on Margate's seafront with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the North Sea like living artwork. We're housed in David Chipperfield's striking building, where natural light floods through our event spaces throughout the day, creating an atmosphere that shifts beautifully from morning meetings to evening celebrations. Our main event space, the Foyle Rooms, opens directly onto a private terrace where up to 120 guests can step outside between sessions or during drinks receptions. The room divides into smaller sections using soundproof partitions, so you might host a 30-person board meeting in one half while setting up for afternoon workshops in the other. We've installed audio-visual equipment that actually works when you need it – projectors, screens, microphones, and speakers are all built in, with electric blinds that adjust at the touch of a button for presentations. For meetings, our tables and chairs configure into boardroom, theatre, or cabaret layouts, while party planners often clear the space entirely for standing receptions. We work with local caterers who know how to make the most of Kent's seasonal produce, though you're welcome to bring your own suppliers if you prefer. The gallery exhibitions downstairs offer natural break activities – we can arrange private tours or hands-on art workshops led by our education team. Getting here takes 90 minutes from London St Pancras, with the station just a 10-minute walk away. We recycle everything possible and compost food waste in our on-site facility, which matters to many of the organizations who book with us.
