The Castle Cinema's 1913 architecture catches your eye the moment you step through our doors. We've kept the original Art Deco details intact—those gold plasterwork curves on the ceiling never fail to draw gasps from first-time visitors. Our main auditorium holds 82 people in proper cinema armchairs that we can rearrange depending on what you need. Corporate presentations? Birthday screenings? We've done them all here in Hackney. Our second screen creates a different atmosphere entirely. With just 27 seats, including six plush sofas, it feels more like watching films in someone's rather grand living room. We find smaller groups love this space for team meetings or intimate celebrations. The audiovisual setup in both screens handles everything from classic 35mm to the latest digital formats, and our technical team knows these systems inside out. Between screenings, our bar becomes the heart of the venue. Those marble-topped tables and velvet chairs weren't just chosen for looks—they're where deals get discussed over cocktails and birthday toasts happen before the main event. While we don't have a full kitchen, we've set up a prep area that works perfectly with outside caterers. From canapés for corporate events to full buffets for wedding receptions, we've seen it all come through those doors. Teachers bring classes here for film education sessions, companies book us for product launches, and yes, we've hosted our share of birthday parties where the birthday person gets to pick the film. The building's versatility surprises people—one week we're screening documentaries for a charity fundraiser, the next we're transformed into a quirky backdrop for a fashion shoot.
