About Woolas Barn
Four generations of our family have farmed these 400 acres of Yorkshire countryside, and we're thrilled to share Woolas Barn with you for celebrations that matter. The 19th-century buildings tell their own stories - from German Prisoners of War signatures etched into the beams to railway sleepers repurposed by previous farm owners into the structure itself. We've carefully restored four distinct spaces across the property. The Stables, where our working horses once lived, now serves as an intimate ceremony room. Original timbers frame the space where couples exchange vows, with exposed brickwork adding warmth to the atmosphere. Just steps away, The Granary (built in 1863) has become the heart of the celebration - we've added a rustic bar, created a proper dance floor, and tucked two cozy snugs upstairs where guests can catch up away from the music. The Lambing Shed might be our favorite transformation. That soaring vaulted ceiling creates quite an impression, and the glass doors open directly onto the courtyard. We can seat 130 guests here for dinner, with natural light flooding in during summer celebrations or candlelight reflecting off the beams for winter gatherings. Speaking of the courtyard, this outdoor space overlooks the Yorkshire Wolds - on clear evenings, we light the fire pit and guests naturally gravitate outside with their drinks. We've got parking sorted for about 50 cars right on site. When you book with us, the entire venue becomes yours for the day. We provide bar staff and all the setup, plus you're welcome to bring in your preferred caterers. The buildings flow naturally from one to the next, so your celebration moves effortlessly from ceremony through dinner to dancing. Each season brings its own character to these historic farm buildings.
