From our terrace windows, river boats glide past while the London Eye frames another perfect sunset over Westminster. The Reading & Writing Room captures everything guests love about The Royal Horseguards and One Whitehall Place, combining Victorian grandeur with contemporary comfort for events that feel both historic and fresh. Your guests enter through double doors to find soaring ceilings crowned with original chandeliers, their crystal catching light from the floor-to-ceiling windows that line the room. We've watched countless celebrations unfold here, from champagne receptions for 250 to intimate banquets where 130 guests dine beneath the intricate ceiling murals that have overlooked London society for over a century. The room transforms beautifully throughout the day. Morning light streams across the patterned carpets and ornate columns, creating a bright, energetic atmosphere for product launches and corporate gatherings. By evening, we dim the chandeliers to create pools of warm light, turning the space into something more intimate for gala dinners and wedding receptions. Our position overlooking the Thames means your photographer will capture guests with Big Ben and the London Eye as backdrops. We regularly arrange drinks on our adjoining terrace, where guests step outside to enjoy Whitehall Gardens, especially popular during summer celebrations. The flexible layout adapts to your vision. We've hosted fashion shows down the centre aisle, created theatre-style seating for 140 for corporate presentations, and arranged cabaret tables for charity auctions. Our events team knows every configuration that works in this space, from U-shape boardroom setups to cocktail furniture arrangements that encourage mingling. Westminster Underground is a five-minute walk, while Charing Cross and Embankment stations are equally close.
