You'll find The Long Wet One through a maze of tunnels beneath Waterloo Station, where the curved brick ceiling rises to nearly six metres above your head. This particular arch stretches 35 metres through the depths of The Vaults, creating a dramatic corridor of exposed Victorian brickwork that artists and party planners have fallen in love with. The room earned its name from the natural moisture that clings to the walls, a characteristic feature of these underground railway arches that adds atmosphere rather than detracts from it. We recommend avoiding delicate fabrics or materials, but this quirk has inspired some of our most memorable events, from immersive theatre productions where the damp walls became part of the storytelling to atmospheric cocktail parties lit by candlelight reflecting off the wet brick. At 245 square metres, you can configure the space for up to 100 guests standing, or create more intimate arrangements with theatre-style or cabaret seating. The seven-metre width gives you room to work with, while the length allows you to create distinct zones, perhaps a performance area at one end transitioning to a bar space at the other. The bare brick walls become your canvas here. We've seen projections dance across the vaulted ceiling, fairy lights transform the tunnel into an enchanted grotto, and industrial lighting rigs turn it into an underground club. The acoustics bounce sound in unexpected ways, which bands and DJs particularly enjoy experimenting with. Getting here couldn't be easier with Waterloo and Lambeth North stations directly above us. Your guests descend into our subterranean world, leaving the city behind as they enter this atmospheric space that feels miles away from London yet sits right at its heart.
