The Long Dry One lives up to its name as one of our driest tunnels, a rare achievement in these century-old railway arches. This elongated chamber stretches beneath Waterloo Station, its vaulted brick ceiling creating an acoustic quality that performers particularly love. We've watched artists transform this space into everything from immersive theatre productions to underground art galleries, each event taking advantage of the room's distinctive character. The exposed brickwork tells the story of Victorian engineering, while our creative lighting installations let you paint the walls with colour and movement. That high arched ceiling gives the space a cathedral-like quality, though with considerably more edge. We can configure the room for 100 guests, whether you're setting up rows of seats for a performance or keeping the floor clear for mingling at a reception. What makes this particular arch special is how the sound travels along the curved walls. Musicians love performing here, and we've hosted everything from experimental electronic sets to intimate acoustic sessions. The bare brick creates natural reverb that electronic artists manipulate brilliantly, while the tunnel shape focuses sound in unexpected ways. For art installations, the continuous wall space works like an underground gallery. We've seen projections mapped onto the curves, sculptures positioned to cast dramatic shadows, and site-specific pieces that respond to the railway rumbles overhead. The industrial bones of the space mean you can hang, project, or install almost anything. Getting here couldn't be easier, with both Waterloo and Lambeth North stations directly above us.
