The de Lacy Centre sits within our cathedral grounds, offering a completely self-contained space with its own entrance and facilities. High arched ceilings with exposed wooden beams frame the room, while polished wooden floors reflect the natural light pouring through tall windows that overlook the peaceful cathedral garden. We've arranged blue upholstered chairs and wooden tables that our guests configure differently depending on their needs. Yesterday's corporate training had 40 people in classroom rows facing our 70-inch presentation screen, while last week's charity trustees preferred a boardroom setup for 20. The space handles up to 50 for standing receptions, or we can set formal dining for 36 guests. Our full kitchen opens directly onto the main room through a serving hatch, making catering surprisingly straightforward. The modern appliances and generous prep space mean external caterers always comment on how easy we make their job. We've noticed groups particularly appreciate being able to brew fresh coffee throughout their meetings without leaving the room. Recent bookings include tech startup workshops, NHS team planning days, birthday celebrations, and classical music masterclasses. Each group shapes the space to match their purpose, whether that's U-shaped seating for interactive training or cabaret tables for fundraising dinners.
