The sounds of merengue and salsa drift from our kitchen at Sabor Criollo as we prepare fresh arepas for the evening service. Here in Edinburgh's Stockbridge district, we've been bringing the flavors of Venezuela and Mexico to Scotland, one plate at a time. Our menu brings together the best of Latin American cooking - from our hand-pressed arepas filled with shredded beef and black beans to sizzling enchiladas topped with melted cheese and our homemade salsa. The nachos come piled high with jalapeños and guacamole, while our fish dishes feature lime-marinated corvina and grilled tilapia with plantains. Vegetarians love our black bean platters served with rice, avocado, and fresh corn tortillas. The dining room fills with traditional Latin music every evening, creating that warm, family-restaurant feel you'd find in Caracas or Mexico City. We pour Latin American beers like Modelo and Quilmes, serve wines from Chile and Argentina, and mix cocktails with proper cachaça and tequila. Families settle into our larger tables while couples share tapas-style plates at the bar. We keep high chairs ready and serve smaller portions for children - the kids usually go straight for our cheese quesadillas. For celebrations, we can accommodate groups up to 50 people, transforming the space for birthday parties, work gatherings, or any excuse to share good food with friends. We also prepare everything for takeaway and deliver throughout Edinburgh if you'd rather enjoy our cooking at home. We open at 5pm Monday through Thursday and Sunday, with earlier 3pm opening on Fridays and Saturdays. Kitchen closes at 10pm every night. Whether you're craving something familiar like our loaded nachos or ready to try something new like our Venezuelan pabellón, we're here serving up proper Latin American food in the heart of Stockbridge.
