The white limestone tower rises above Portland Square like a three-tiered celebration cake – that's how Bristolians have described St Paul's Church for generations. We've been hosting parties and celebrations in this Grade I listed Georgian church since its restoration, and every event brings new life to these 1790s walls. Our main church space opens up dramatically with its ornate plaster ceilings and stone columns catching the light through decorative stained glass. We can accommodate 300 guests here, where the pale maplewood semi-sprung dance floor invites everyone to dance beneath the historic arches. The unexpected addition of aerial and trapeze equipment transforms the space – we've hosted everything from circus-themed parties to theatrical wedding receptions where performers descend from above. Beyond the main church, our large hall welcomes 150 guests in a more intimate setting, while the small hall works perfectly for 40 people celebrating birthdays or anniversaries. Both kitchens stay busy during events, whether we're helping caterers prepare a formal dinner or keeping drinks stations stocked for cocktails. The car park behind the building means your guests won't circle Portland Square looking for spaces. We're tucked just off the M32, and Bristol Temple Meads station is a pleasant walk through the neighborhood. Our events team works closely with The Churches Conservation Trust and Circomedia to maintain the building while ensuring your party runs smoothly. From live bands using the church's natural acoustics to DJs setting up on the dance floor, we've learned how to blend modern celebrations with Georgian architecture. The combination of historic details and contemporary equipment means your party happens somewhere genuinely different – a working piece of Bristol's heritage that's very much alive for today's celebrations.
