Right across from Newcastle's Central Station, we're The Victoria Comet - a proper British pub that's been serving travelers and locals since the 1800s. You might recognize our front door from the film 'Get Carter', where Michael Caine strode through it in that famous opening scene. We started life as two separate pubs - The Victoria and The Comet - before joining forces to become the landmark you see today. Step through our doors and you'll find yourself in a traditional pub interior with a long wooden bar stretching along one wall. Our floors are original wood, and we've covered the walls with black-and-white photographs of old Newcastle. The cream and green color scheme keeps things warm and welcoming, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for a proper meal. Upstairs, our Get Carter Dining Room overlooks the bustle of Central Station. With its rich wooden floors and classic pub décor, we use this space for everything from business meetings to birthday celebrations. The room comfortably hosts private groups, and we handle all the catering in-house. Our kitchen specializes in hand-crafted pies - the Chicken & Truffled Oyster Mushroom and British Steak & Nicholson's Pale Ale pies are particular favorites. Beyond pies, we serve up classic British pub dishes, burgers, bar snacks, and proper puddings. Behind the bar, we pour cask ales from specialist breweries across Britain, plus we stock an extensive collection of whiskies, gins, and wines.
