About Widcombe Social Club
The canal-side views from our balcony are what regulars mention first when they talk about Widcombe Social Club. We're right on Widcombe Hill in Bath, and that position gives us something special - you can watch the narrowboats drift by while having your morning coffee or evening pint. Our Waterside Bar stocks everything from local ales to proper coffee, and yes, we've got that pool table that somehow never sits empty. The darts board sees plenty of action too, especially on Thursday nights. We've set up the balcony as a non-smoking space where you can actually hear yourself think, while smokers head to our 'gnome garden' - don't ask about the name, it's a long story involving a member's donation back in 2018. For meetings, we get a lot of bookings for our smaller rooms. People tell us they like being able to walk here from Bath station, and the canal views help when those budget discussions get intense. We've got PA systems and microphones if you need them, plus accessible toilets and a lift to all floors. The rooms work just as well for interviews, training sessions, or those away-days where you need somewhere that doesn't feel like another corporate box. Our evening calendar fills up with everything from wedding receptions to birthday parties. We've hosted yoga classes on Tuesday mornings, Spanish conversation groups on Wednesdays, and live music most Fridays. The space transforms depending on what's needed - formal seating for 30, cocktail-style for larger groups, or cleared for dancing. Membership costs £20 for 2025 and gets you money off drinks and event tickets, though non-members are always welcome. Parking can be tight on the hill, but the train station's a 10-minute walk and there's usually space on the nearby roads if you time it right.

An excellent place in which to hold a meeting with friendly staff. Perhaps the only drawback is parking but we were all lucky to find places on the road; next time I will consider using the train
