Walking into The Lumley Library feels like discovering a secret corner of London where medical history meets celebration. Here on the first floor, we've preserved the character of this 19th-century Grade-listed space while making it work brilliantly for contemporary events. Whether you're planning an intimate wedding reception for 90 seated guests or a standing celebration for up to 150, the room adapts beautifully to your vision. The moment your guests arrive, they're surrounded by towering walls of books, part of one of Europe's most significant medical science collections. Natural light pours through our large windows, catching the warm tones of the polished wooden floors and intricate period woodwork. We've found that this combination of scholarship and grandeur creates conversations that flow as easily as the champagne. For presentations or speeches, we've installed two 65" plasma screens and a PA system that blend discreetly into the historic architecture. The adjoining Erasmus Wilson Room works perfectly as a pre-dinner drinks space or somewhere for your catering team to prepare between courses. We welcome external DJs and live music, and our late licence means celebrations can continue into the night. Our partnership with Searcys brings seasonal British menus to match your event, whether that's canapés during a cocktail reception or a full banquet service. Their team, who've been creating events since 1847, understand how to work within historic spaces without compromising on service or quality.
