The Edwardian Tearooms open into one of Birmingham's most photographed interiors, where original period artwork meets soaring vaulted ceilings that catch the afternoon light perfectly. We've carefully restored this space to preserve its 1900s character while creating a versatile setting for modern celebrations. Natural light pours through our large windows throughout the day, illuminating the vintage photographs and period pieces that line our walls. The space comfortably seats 120 guests around wooden tables, though we often arrange the room differently depending on your event, perhaps mixing our plush sofas with traditional dining chairs to create more intimate conversation areas. The intricate tile flooring guides guests through the space, while our ambient lighting transforms the atmosphere as evening approaches. Our central bar anchors the room, where we serve everything from champagne receptions to traditional afternoon teas. The tearooms flow naturally into the museum's surrounding galleries, giving your guests the chance to explore our collections during your event. We find this works particularly well for wedding receptions and milestone celebrations where people appreciate the freedom to wander and discover. The renovated space maintains its historical integrity while offering modern accessibility throughout. Our in-house team can arrange formal dining for seated events or create a more relaxed atmosphere for standing receptions and parties. The room's proportions and architectural details provide an elegant backdrop without overwhelming smaller gatherings, yet the space opens up beautifully for larger celebrations. Based in central Birmingham with direct access from New Street Station, the Edwardian Tearooms combine convenient city center location with the cultural heritage of our Grade II* listed building. We regularly host wedding receptions, birthday parties, corporate celebrations and private dining events within these historic walls.
