The therapy rooms at The Center for Optimal Living on the fifth floor of 370 Lexington Avenue have witnessed countless breakthroughs over our nearly 12 years of service. We transformed traditional meeting spaces into warm, welcoming environments where individuals and families found new paths forward through Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy (IHRP). Our suite at Suite 500 housed multiple therapy rooms designed for different purposes. The individual counseling rooms featured comfortable seating arrangements that helped clients feel at ease during one-on-one sessions. Our larger group therapy space accommodated circles of chairs where participants shared experiences and supported each other's journeys. We also maintained a dedicated family counseling room with flexible seating that could be rearranged to suit couples or entire families working through challenges together. What made our space unique was how we configured it to support our pioneering approach. Rather than clinical, sterile environments, we created rooms that felt more like comfortable living spaces. Our meeting areas served dual purposes - hosting professional training sessions where therapists learned IHRP techniques, and providing venues for our Psychedelic Education and Continuing Care Program workshops. These educational gatherings brought together professionals and community members interested in understanding harm reduction approaches. The facility at 370 Lexington Avenue became a hub for innovative mental health and substance use treatment in New York. Our meeting spaces adapted to various needs - from intimate individual sessions to larger professional development workshops. Each room was equipped with materials supporting our integrative approach, including educational resources and comfortable furnishings that encouraged open dialogue. Though we closed our physical location on June 1, 2023, as Dr. Andrew Tatarsky transitioned to expanding IHRP through broader training and consulting initiatives, the impact of what happened in these meeting spaces continues through the countless individuals and professionals who experienced transformation within our walls.
