About Wedderlie House
Running through the heart of the Scottish Borders, our 50-acre estate at Wedderlie House has been hosting celebrations since the 16th century. We've carefully preserved the original sandstone walls and exposed beams in our two converted barns while adding everything modern parties need - from proper heating to dance floor lighting that sets the mood just right. Our garden marquee fits 150 guests comfortably, with views stretching across the lawns to the woodland beyond. When the dancing starts, guests often spill out onto the terrace, drinks in hand from the Un-Stable Bar - yes, it really was the old horse stables, and we've kept the original stall dividers as quirky booth seating. The mansion itself serves as both backdrop and accommodation, with period features like the carved stone fireplace in the drawing room where many couples have their first dance. We can sleep over 50 guests across the property - from the four-poster beds in the main house to the converted hayloft above the old dairy, and our newer log cabins tucked into the tree line. Morning-after breakfasts happen around the huge farmhouse table, with everyone sharing stories from the night before while nursing cups of tea. The grounds include tennis and volleyball courts that get surprisingly competitive during weekend parties, plus miles of private paths through our woods. We're about an hour from Edinburgh and Newcastle, close enough for guests to reach us easily but far enough that you genuinely feel away from everything. We don't do packages or preferred supplier lists - every party here is different, and we work with whatever vision you have in mind. Our events team knows every corner of the property and can suggest which spaces work best for different parts of your celebration.
