About Cliffords Restaurant & Bar
Our basement restaurant at 140 Fetter Lane sits beneath where Clifford's Inn once stood—London's oldest Inn of Court from 1344. Since opening in 2018, we've transformed this historic space into something quite special. Down the stairs, you'll find our dining room wrapped in deep teal walls, where candlelight dances across antique wooden tables and fresh flowers add splashes of color throughout the week. We built our menu around what Britain's seasons bring us, though our kitchen speaks with an Italian accent. Our chefs hand-stretch pizza dough daily, and we source ingredients from suppliers who share our commitment to quality. Behind the bar, our team mixes cocktails alongside a wine list we've carefully chosen to complement the food. When it comes to hosting your events, we've designed our spaces to work beautifully for different occasions. Our Mezzanine level works perfectly for groups—we can seat 16 comfortably or accommodate 20 for standing receptions. The Library offers a more intimate setting with space for 6 seated or 10 standing. For larger celebrations or corporate gatherings, you can take over the entire restaurant. We're tucked between Chancery Lane and Blackfriars stations, making us easy to reach from anywhere in London. Our events team creates bespoke menus for each booking, whether you're planning canapés and cocktails, a formal dinner, or anything in between. Business lunches, anniversary celebrations, office parties—we've hosted them all in our candlelit space.
