Creative businesses have called the Custard Factory home since we transformed Alfred Bird's 1906 custard production facility into Birmingham's most distinctive workspace and event destination. Our original Crittall windows flood the spaces with natural light, while exposed steel beams and soaring ceilings remind everyone who walks through that they're working somewhere with real history. We offer workspaces from 300 square feet for startups right up to 12,000 square feet for established companies, all maintaining that industrial character that makes the Custard Factory special. Our concierge team greets you at the front desk each morning, and the communal tenant foyer becomes a natural meeting point where creative professionals from different businesses often spark unexpected collaborations. For meetings, we've created two distinct options. Our boardroom feels like stepping into someone's well-appointed study – warm, welcoming, and perfect for smaller gatherings. The Orwell Suite takes a more contemporary approach with its clean lines and professional setup. Both rooms come equipped with TV screens, flipcharts, and whiteboards, everything you need for presentations or brainstorming sessions. When it comes to events, our larger spaces offer genuine blank canvases. We've seen them transformed into pop-up retail experiences, art exhibitions, charity banquets, product launches, and festival venues. The industrial bones of the building – those high vaulted ceilings and expansive floor plans – give event organizers the freedom to create exactly what they envision. Day-to-day, our community enjoys practical amenities like shower and changing facilities for cyclists, dedicated bike storage, conference rooms for formal meetings, and a multi-faith room. Some spaces include air conditioning, though many tenants tell us they prefer the character of the original windows that actually open.
