Steam whistles echo through 200 acres of woodland as our narrow-gauge railway winds past flowering rhododendrons and ancient oaks at Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway. We've been cultivating this extraordinary landscape since Lionel de Rothschild first planted these grounds in 1919, and today our collection spans everything from rare camellias to towering magnolias that burst into bloom each spring. Our meeting room provides a refreshing alternative to conventional conference spaces. With ample seating and desk arrangements, we accommodate training sessions and creative workshops while garden views inspire fresh thinking. Groups often combine their meetings with rides on our 12¼" gauge steam railway - a 1.5-mile journey that crosses bridges, passes through tunnels, and skirts Dragonfly Pond. The Summer Lane Garden section can only be reached by train, making it a unique talking point during breaks. For celebrations and parties, we open up our restaurant space. Whether you're planning a child's birthday party complete with train rides or an office gathering with garden walks between courses, Mr. Eddy's Restaurant serves everything from light refreshments to full meals. Our outdoor café at the Old Tennis Courts provides additional space when weather permits. We welcome families with four-legged members too - water bowls are stationed throughout the grounds and we even stock dog-friendly ice cream. Our paths accommodate wheelchairs and we've adapted railway carriages for accessibility, plus mobility scooters are available to hire. The Rock Garden, Europe's largest of its type, features gentle gradients suitable for all visitors. Free parking eliminates arrival stress, and our team can arrange guided tours or special footplate experiences for steam enthusiasts. From azalea-filled valleys in spring to autumn's golden canopy, each season transforms our gardens into a distinctive backdrop for meetings and celebrations.
