About Fiction Studios
The moment you step into Fiction Studios on Ely Place, you're surrounded by thousands of books—over 6,000 of them actually line our walls, creating this incredible atmosphere that feels part old library, part exclusive members' club. We've kept the warm filament lighting throughout, and there are all these hidden corners and nooks that people love discovering during their events or recording sessions. Our main recording area centers around a 36-track Soundtracs IL 3632 desk, which we've coupled with a Pro Tools HD native system and Logic Pro X running on a quad core dual GPU Mac Pro. The Apollo interface gives us 18 x 24 channels, and we've got UAD plugins ready to go. For monitoring, we use Genelec 8250a's—they're genuinely world-class speakers that let you hear every detail. We've also collected some serious vintage gear over the years: our Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 and Roland Juno 60 are particular favorites, plus we've got a Roland SH101, Crumar Performer, and an Oberheim DMX drum machine. The dedicated drum area works brilliantly for acoustic kits—we've got quality mics positioned and ready. If you prefer, there's also a Roland TD25V running Superior Drummer. Our air-conditioned vocal booth stays comfortable even during long sessions, and the live session area has a 2K Active PA system that really fills the space. People use Fiction Studios for all sorts of creative projects. Recording sessions are our bread and butter, but we also host intimate live performances, photo shoots, and filming. The combination of professional equipment and that unique library atmosphere makes the space work for parties too—there's something about being surrounded by books and vintage synths that creates a memorable setting for celebrations.
