About Halpern House
We run Halpern House as part of the University of Portsmouth's Innovation Connect, creating a workspace where start-ups, freelancers and small businesses can grow. Our building in central Portsmouth houses everything from hot desks in our open-plan areas to private offices, all with 24/7 access for members who need to work outside regular hours. The podcast room tends to book up fast - it's properly soundproofed and equipped for professional recording. Our meeting rooms fit between 4 and 9 people, with screens and presentation equipment already set up. Each floor has its own kitchen where members make their morning coffee (we keep it stocked with tea and coffee supplies), heat up lunch in the microwaves, and store food in the fridges. The communal lounges on each floor often buzz with impromptu conversations between members working on different projects. We've designed our memberships to flex with your business - start with a hot desk, move to a dedicated desk when you need more permanence, then into an office as your team grows. The super-fast broadband handles whatever our tech companies throw at it, and you can use Halpern House as your registered business address from day one. Being part of the University means our members often collaborate with academic staff and students on projects.
