Pink neon lights catch your eye from Portland Street, drawing you into House of Fu where we've created something a bit different for Manchester's party scene. Our 113-115 Portland Street spot started as a ramen restaurant, but we quickly realized people wanted more than just dinner - they wanted somewhere to properly celebrate. We've split the venue into distinct spaces that work for different moods. Upstairs, our main restaurant serves award-winning ramen alongside rice bowls and homemade gyozas (the plant-based menu has become surprisingly popular). The cocktail bar runs happy hour daily from 4pm to 6pm, where you'll find us mixing drinks alongside craft beers and sake selections. Our private dining room fits 24 people seated around tables or opens up for 35 standing with drinks. The exposed brickwork and pink-tinged lighting create an atmosphere that photographs well - something we noticed matters for birthday parties and celebrations. But the real draw is downstairs in our Hello Music Lounge. The basement transforms into a different world entirely. We've installed a private bar down there, brought in proper DJ equipment, and built three separate karaoke rooms. The whole space holds up to 150 people when we open everything up. Weekend DJs keep the energy high, and those karaoke rooms stay busy until late - there's something about Japanese-inspired decor that makes people lose their inhibitions with a microphone. Corporate groups book us for team gatherings where they start with dinner upstairs then head down for karaoke. Birthday parties often take over the entire basement, using the DJ area for dancing between karaoke sessions. We handle all the catering in-house, adjusting menus based on what each group needs. The neon signs and eclectic decor throughout create distinct photo opportunities in every corner - exactly what our party bookings seem to want these days.
