About Newbattle Abbey

We're situated within 125 acres of parkland near Edinburgh, where the former Cistercian monastery has evolved into something quite special for today's conferences and corporate gatherings. Our eight meeting rooms each bring their own character to your event. The Drawing Room remains our most impressive space - its ornate fresco ceiling creates an atmosphere you won't find in typical conference venues, and we can accommodate up to 120 guests here. For smaller strategy sessions or board meetings, we often recommend the Edwin Muir Room, which offers a more intimate setting while maintaining the Abbey's distinctive character. Every room comes equipped with the AV facilities you'd expect, and we've made sure natural daylight fills each space - something our regular clients particularly appreciate during long meeting days. We know the practical details matter too, which is why we provide free parking for all attendees and have en suite accommodation available on our campus for multi-day conferences or when your team needs to stay overnight. Our in-house catering team works with fresh, local produce to keep your delegates well-fed throughout the day. Whether it's working lunches, coffee breaks, or formal dinners, we handle everything on-site.
