Step through the etched glass doors of The Mitre Lancaster Gate and you'll find yourself in a proper Victorian pub that's been serving Bayswater since the 1850s. We've kept all the original character - the mosaic floors that countless feet have crossed, the intricate glasswork that catches the afternoon light, and those open fireplaces that warm the room on chilly evenings. Our Grade II listed building works brilliantly for parties. Downstairs, Old Mary's Cocktail Bar has that speakeasy feel perfect for birthday celebrations or after-work gatherings. The bartenders mix both experimental creations and time-tested classics in a space that feels wonderfully tucked away from the world above. For more formal occasions, we open up Lord Craven's Dining Room on the first floor - it's pure Victorian elegance with space for up to 90 people standing or 25 seated around our polished tables. The Scullery offers something different again - its own private entrance means your group can come and go without disturbing the main pub. We find it works particularly well for intimate dinner parties or small celebrations where you want that cozy, exclusive feel. Our kitchen turns out proper British food using seasonal ingredients. The Sunday roasts draw crowds, but we're just as proud of our weekday menu. Behind the bar, we pour real ales alongside international beers, and our wine list covers everything from house pours to special bottles for toasting. Being moments from Hyde Park means we get an interesting mix - hotel guests exploring the neighborhood, locals who've been coming for years, and plenty of groups celebrating everything from engagements to company milestones.
