The Crown's Outdoor Garden surprises first-time visitors who wander through from the main pub, discovering this hidden corner of East London greenery. Behind our Shoreditch High Street entrance, the garden stretches out unexpectedly, framed by brick walls where ivy and climbing plants have made themselves at home over the years. Round glass-topped tables dot the space, each surrounded by wicker chairs that somehow stay comfortable even after hours of conversation. We've watched countless birthday parties unfold here, groups of 60 friends taking over the entire garden, drinks flowing from our dedicated outdoor bar while laughter echoes off the walls. The new furniture arrived last season, along with proper heaters that keep the space usable well into autumn evenings. During summer afternoons, the large umbrellas create pockets of shade where small groups gather for leaving drinks or milestone birthdays. The layout works brilliantly for mingling, with natural flow between the bar and seating areas. We can arrange the space theatre-style for 50 guests when presentations or speeches are part of the plan, though most parties prefer the informal standing arrangement that lets people drift between conversations. The outdoor bar means nobody has to trek inside for refills, keeping the party energy concentrated in the garden. Our bartenders move between both bars on busy nights, mixing cocktails and pouring pints with equal enthusiasm. External caterers often set up along the side wall, where there's plenty of space for food stations without blocking the main flow. What makes evening events here special is the atmosphere once the fairy lights come on and the heaters start glowing. Corporate groups particularly love booking the garden for their more relaxed gatherings, finding it strikes the right balance between professional and playful. The Wi-Fi reaches every corner, and the accessible toilets are just inside the main entrance.
