The sun hits our Rose Arbour just right around 2pm, filtering through the canopy of mature trees that frame this corner of the grounds. We built the arbour from white-painted timber with a traditional slate roof, positioning it where the formal gardens meet the wilder edges of our estate. It's become the spot where countless couples have said their vows, with the historic house rising behind them in all those wedding photos. Our grounds team keeps the surrounding flower beds bursting with seasonal blooms, though honestly, the roses steal the show from May through September. The lawn slopes gently here, which actually works brilliantly when we set out the white wooden chairs, giving everyone clear sightlines. We can arrange seating for up to 250 guests theatre-style, though most couples prefer around 150 for that perfect balance of celebration and intimacy. The arbour sits near our Secret Garden and Lily Pond, so after ceremonies, guests naturally drift through these spaces with their drinks. Photographers particularly love the contrast between the formal structure of the arbour and the more relaxed woodland paths nearby. We've also got the Manor House steps as an alternative ceremony spot, where ancient wisteria creates this incredible natural arch in early summer, or there's the old well tucked into the woodland for something completely different. Being outdoors in the British weather means we always have contingency plans, but there's something special about an open-air ceremony when the weather cooperates. The space comes with our standard wedding package inclusions: accessible paths throughout, plenty of parking for your guests, and our in-house catering team who know exactly how to work outdoor events. Most ceremonies here run about 30 minutes, though the space is yours for photography afterwards.
