The Upstairs Bar transforms throughout the day, from bright lunch gatherings to intimate evening celebrations where our 2am licence keeps conversations flowing well into the night. We've preserved the character of our 19th-century building with original features like the deep blue wainscoting that runs along white walls, creating an elegant backdrop for your photos. The private wooden bar, exclusively yours for the event, means your guests never queue or share space with the regular pub crowd downstairs. Our bartenders stay dedicated to your party all night, mixing drinks while you focus on celebrating. The room comfortably seats 40 for our feasting menus, though we can accommodate 50 when needed. Standing receptions work beautifully here too, with space for 65 guests mingling between the bar and dining area, or 60 for drinks from the start. Corporate groups particularly appreciate our projector and flatscreen TV for presentations, before switching seamlessly to social mode. Chef Director Michael Davies leads our kitchen team, preparing everything from scratch. Your menu might feature charred sprouting broccoli with tahini and za'atar, or deep-fried mackerel with persimmon and chilli, depending on what's at its peak when you celebrate. We finalise dishes closer to your date, ensuring the freshest seasonal ingredients make it to your table. Getting here couldn't be easier, with multiple bus routes and nearby tube stations connecting Camberwell to the rest of London. Your guests can even wander downstairs to explore our ground-floor pub for a change of scene between courses or later in the evening. Our events coordinator manages every detail, from initial menu tastings through to your celebration timeline.
