Victorian coal vaults beneath the National Portrait Gallery have become our playground for London's most memorable parties. We've kept every original brick arch and vaulted ceiling from 1896, transforming these underground chambers into LARRY'S , where over 100 portraits from the Gallery's archives watch over your celebrations. Our signature red cocktail bar commands attention the moment you descend the stairs, its backdrop of meticulously arranged bottles promising an evening of expertly crafted drinks. The exposed brick walls catch the warm lighting we've installed throughout, creating intimate pockets perfect for conversation while maintaining the energy of your wider celebration. Parquet flooring runs throughout, adding warmth to the historic stone and brick. We configure the space to match your vision, accommodating 30 guests for seated dinners where the vaults create natural intimacy, or opening everything up for standing receptions of 150 where guests flow between the bar and various vault spaces. Our bartenders work their magic with classic cocktails and our extensive wine selection, while lavish bar snacks keep the energy high throughout your event. Wednesday through Saturday evenings, live jazz performers like Kitty LaRoar fill the arches with music that transforms the atmosphere into something approaching a 1920s speakeasy. The acoustics of these vaulted ceilings carry the sound beautifully, whether it's live music or your own playlist through our PA system.
