We turned our back room into something special when we found that gorgeous long wooden table. The Castaway Dining Room seats 22 around it comfortably, with everyone able to actually hear each other talk, or we can clear the chairs for drinks receptions up to 35. Those deep blue walls weren't an accident. We wanted the room to feel like somewhere you'd actually want to spend an evening, not another beige box. The bentwood chairs are proper comfortable (we tested them through many long dinners), and when daylight streams through those big windows, the whole space comes alive. Come evening, the chandelier takes over, casting just the right amount of light over your gathering. Our kitchen team gets particularly excited about private dining here. They'll work with you on feasting menus or three-course affairs, matching wines from small producers we've discovered in France, Italy and Spain. The Head Chef has been known to pop in between courses to check everyone's happy, sometimes getting carried away explaining why the beef is particularly good this week. Birthday dinners tend to turn into proper celebrations here, with the wooden floors handling impromptu dancing surprisingly well. Corporate groups appreciate that we keep things relaxed whilst getting the details right. The bar's close enough for quick top-ups but you've got your own space, away from the main pub buzz. Tooting Broadway station is a few minutes' walk, handy for gathering people from across London. We're licensed until midnight, though Tuesday bookings often wrap up earlier whilst Saturday parties tend to use every minute. The room has its own character, those vintage maps on the walls have prompted many conversations over pudding. It's become the kind of space where deals get done over lunch and friendships are celebrated over dinner.
