The Galloping Major transforms from our breakfast room each morning into one of our most versatile event spaces, where original Victorian features meet carefully chosen contemporary touches. Those ornate ceiling mouldings you'll notice were painstakingly restored when we brought this 1860s mansion back to life, and they create quite the impression when your guests first walk in. Natural light pours through the tall windows overlooking Bruntwood Park, changing character throughout the day. Morning events get that soft parkland light, while evening celebrations take on a completely different feel when our modern fixtures cast their warm glow across the room. The original fireplace anchors the space, its carved surround providing a natural focal point whether you're arranging 60 guests for dinner or opening up the room for 90 people at a standing reception. We've found the room works brilliantly for different occasions. Wedding parties love how it flows into our private bar area, creating separate spaces for dining and mingling. Birthday celebrations often start with drinks on The Terrace before moving inside for dinner. Our kitchen team works directly from this space, so your chosen menu arrives fresh and perfectly timed.
