Walking into Alexandra Hall feels like stepping onto a Victorian stage where countless important moments have unfolded over the decades. This magnificent space within our venue seats 650 people in traditional theatre style, with rich red seats arranged across the main floor and continuing up into the gallery that curves around three sides of the room. The ornate plaster ceiling work catches everyone's attention first, its intricate patterns creating visual interest high above the polished wooden stage. Natural light streams through the original stained glass windows during daytime meetings, casting subtle colours across the room and eliminating any need for harsh artificial lighting until evening sessions begin. We've found the gallery seating particularly popular for larger conferences, as the elevated position gives every attendee clear sightlines to the stage. The acoustics, designed over a century ago for performances, carry speakers' voices beautifully throughout the space without excessive amplification. For presentations, the stage provides ample room for panels, product demonstrations, or single speakers addressing the full capacity crowd. The hall transforms impressively for networking receptions too, accommodating 350 guests when we clear the seating. The open floor space allows for natural circulation, while the architectural details provide conversation points during breaks. We maintain full accessibility throughout, with lift access to all levels and disabled facilities integrated thoughtfully into the historic structure. While we don't offer parking directly on site, you'll find several car parks within a five-minute walk, and we always provide detailed directions with your booking confirmation.
