The Handbag Factory brings together creative professionals in a converted industrial space that once produced leather goods in Vauxhall, South London. We're run by the Artists Studio Company (ASC), a charity that's been supporting artists and creative businesses for over 30 years, which means we can offer workspace at below-commercial rates with no VAT or deposit required. Our building houses two distinct working environments. The main coworking area features flexible desk arrangements—from hot-desking to dedicated spaces—alongside meeting rooms equipped for presentations and collaborative sessions. Private phone booths scattered throughout provide quiet spots for important calls, while the communal kitchen keeps everyone fueled with complimentary tea and coffee. The outdoor patio offers a change of scenery when you need fresh air between tasks. What makes our space particularly useful for creative businesses are the two galleries on site. Gallery 1 spans 1,835 square feet with steel-framed windows flooding the space with natural light—we've hosted product launches here for up to 400 people. Gallery 2 is more intimate at 800 square feet, featuring a dramatic skylight ceiling that transforms the atrium into an exhibition space accommodating 300 guests. Members often use these galleries for client presentations, workshops, and showcasing their work. Practical amenities include lockable storage for equipment and materials, secure cycle storage for those who bike to work, and breakout areas where informal meetings naturally happen. We've noticed architects collaborating with graphic designers over coffee, nonprofit teams booking meeting rooms for strategy sessions, and consultants using the private pods for video calls with international clients.
