The moment you step into Beaconsfield Gallery Vauxhall, you're walking through the doors of the former Lambeth Ragged Schools - a piece of Victorian philanthropy that we've carefully transformed into one of London's most striking contemporary art spaces. Our building tells its own story through every architectural detail, from the original wooden floors that have witnessed over a century of footsteps to the cast iron pillars that still support our galleries today. We manage three distinct spaces here, each with its own character. Our Upper Gallery never fails to take people's breath away - those seven-metre-high white walls create an incredible sense of scale, while the original raked wooden floor adds warmth beneath the tall arched windows that flood the space with natural light. Downstairs, our Lower Gallery offers something more intimate. The original Yorkstone floor and those substantial cast iron pillars give parties here a different energy, especially when the light streams through the large windows. Then there's our Arch Gallery - a completely different beast. We've kept the exposed brick walls that remind everyone this was once a Victorian railway arch, but we've added invisible infrared heating throughout (trust us, your guests will appreciate this in winter). The sprung grey-painted floor makes it perfect for dancing or fashion shows. Our award-winning garden yard connects all these spaces beautifully. We've seen it used for everything from wedding receptions to corporate networking events. Speaking of weddings, we're licensed for civil partnerships and marriage ceremonies, and the combination of Victorian architecture with contemporary design creates something really special for couples.
