About Bethnal Green Library
Our 1922 Grade II listed building sits right in Bethnal Green Gardens, just a minute's walk from the Underground station. We've been part of this community for over a century, and our two meeting halls on the first floor continue to serve local businesses and organizations looking for a distinctive space with character. The original polished wooden floors and tall wooden shelves create an atmosphere you won't find in modern conference centers. Natural light streams through the skylit reading room during daytime meetings, and the historic architecture provides a memorable backdrop for presentations and workshops. We recently upgraded our facilities with a new heating system and Wi-Fi throughout the building, so while the setting feels timeless, the amenities meet today's standards. Each of our two halls accommodates up to 100 people in conference-style seating or 40 in cabaret layout. The spaces work well for corporate meetings, training sessions, community workshops, and cultural presentations. Downstairs, we offer eight computers with internet access, scanning, and printing facilities – helpful for last-minute presentation adjustments or attendee needs. We've also added comfortable seating areas with bench space for laptop users. Beyond meetings, our library hosts Story Time sessions, Homework Clubs, LEGO Clubs, and Art Clubs throughout the week. The building serves multiple purposes – from weddings to conferences to cultural events – though we should mention there's no disabled access to the first-floor halls. The Cambridge Road location puts you in the heart of Bethnal Green, with plenty of local cafes and lunch spots nearby for breaks. Our combination of historic character and practical amenities creates a meeting environment that's both professional and welcoming.
