About Blondies
Three Australian sisters turned an old Money Shop in Lower Clapton into what we like to call our rock 'n' roll living room. When Verity, Sharmaine, and Rochelle Cox opened Blondies nearly ten years ago, we hammered together every wonky table and built each piece of furniture ourselves—giving our 50-capacity space the raw-edged character people compare to those punk lounges in New York's East Village. Our DIY spirit runs through everything here. We brew our own Blondies beer, mix classic cocktails behind the bar, and have somehow convinced everyone from local emerging bands to heavyweights like Mastodon and Refused to play our tiny stage. The slightly off-kilter furnishings we built by hand create an atmosphere that feels both intimate and electric when the music starts. For private parties, we open Sunday through Wednesday, transforming our space into whatever you need. Birthday celebrations spill from our indoor bar into the garden, where our outdoor kitchen keeps everyone fed. Launch parties use our projector for presentations before the DJs take over. We've hosted everything from film screenings to full-blown gigs using our PA system and backline—the same setup our regular bands use. The garden offers breathing room when things get lively inside, and our projector works just as well for movie nights as it does for band visuals. We keep things simple: good drinks (including that beer we brew ourselves), solid sound system, and a space that feels authentic because we built it with our own hands. Our East London dive bar might be small, but we've packed it with everything needed for a proper celebration—just bring your crowd and we'll handle the rest.
