St James Church on Clerkenwell Close houses one of London's most intriguing event spaces—our Crypt on the Green. We've been hosting gatherings here since the 18th century, and the original vaulted brick ceilings still arch overhead, creating an atmosphere you won't find in modern venues. Eight large windows flood the space with natural light during daytime events, while the parquet flooring adds warmth beneath your feet. We operate as a dry hire venue, which means you bring in your preferred caterers, furniture suppliers, and entertainment. This flexibility lets you shape the space exactly how you envision it. The Crypt itself can hold 300 people for drinks receptions or seat 150 for a formal dinner. For smaller meetings or breakout sessions, our Vestry provides an intimate setting away from the main space. Need something grander? The Church upstairs opens up possibilities for larger conferences or concerts. When the weather cooperates, The Long Walk outside works beautifully for arrival drinks or as a garden party extension. Our exposed brickwork and historic architecture make the space particularly popular for product launches and exhibitions—the walls themselves become part of the display.
