About Democratic Progress Institute
Our meeting room at the Democratic Progress Institute, 11 Guilford Street, sits on the second floor of a building we share with other NGOs focused on conflict resolution and peace-building. Working here means we understand what makes a productive discussion space - you need more than just four walls and a table. The room itself gets plenty of natural light through the windows, which our regular visitors tell us makes a real difference during long sessions. We've equipped it with a 60-inch touchscreen monitor that actually works properly for presentations, and yes, we keep the WiFi password simple because nobody wants to struggle with that before an important meeting. As an independent organisation dedicated to democratic progress and dialogue, we host everything from academic roundtables to policy workshops in this space. We've learned that good coffee matters as much as good acoustics, so we keep both the kitchen stocked and the room properly soundproofed (though fair warning - there's occasionally construction work in the neighbourhood that we can't control). Our reception team knows the building inside out and will get you settled quickly. They're used to helping with last-minute tech requests and pointing visitors to the nearest tube stations - Russell Square and Chancery Lane are both about a five-minute walk. The space works particularly well for groups discussing sensitive topics like human rights, governance, or conflict transformation. We've hosted private diplomacy sessions, capacity-building workshops, and plenty of seminars where academics and policymakers need somewhere neutral to exchange ideas. The room's atmosphere tends to encourage open conversation rather than formal presentations, though we've set it up to handle both. We keep things straightforward - book the room, use our facilities, and focus on your meeting rather than logistics.

The room was perfectly located from the office and well within walking distance. However there was a lot of construction/decorating work going on so a lot of outside noise made it difficult to hear what was being said around the table. Given that we would use the faci...
