About Experimental Cocktail Club - Chinatown
Two flights up from Gerrard Street's dim sum restaurants and Chinese supermarkets, we've created something unexpected at Experimental Cocktail Club. Our bartenders work behind a zinc-topped bar that reflects the soft glow from mirrored ceilings, while guests sink into velvet banquettes surrounded by exposed Victorian brickwork that tells the story of this Chinatown building's past. We built our space across two floors with designer Dorothée Meilichzon, who brought her Parisian sensibility to these former Soho rooms. The result feels like stepping into a 1920s apartment where someone decided to throw the best parties - think worn leather, aged mirrors, and the kind of lighting that makes everyone look good after midnight. Our venue holds up to 100 people when you book the whole space, though we find smaller groups of 40-60 create the perfect energy for birthday celebrations or press launches. Our bar team has assembled a drinks list that reads like a love letter to cocktail history. We pour everything from pre-Prohibition classics to our own house creations, plus we keep a collection of vintage spirits that includes bottles you won't find anywhere else in London. For private parties, we run cocktail masterclasses where your guests learn to make three drinks while hearing the stories behind them - it's become one of our most requested features. We open our doors at 6pm every night. Sunday and Monday we close at midnight, Tuesday and Wednesday at 2am, and Thursday through Saturday we keep going until 3am. You can book tables through our website or email, though we always save space for walk-ins - just arrive early on weekends. Leicester Square tube station sits just a three-minute walk away, making it easy for your guests to find us tucked above the street.
