Our staff won't smile at you, and we're not sorry about it. At Karen's Diner Birmingham, we've turned terrible service into an art form that keeps people coming back for more abuse. Every shift, we perfect the eye rolls, master the heavy sighs, and practice our best "what do YOU want?" faces in the mirror. We built this place around classic American diner bones – those red and white checkered tablecloths your nan would recognize, leather booths that have seen better days, and neon signs that buzz just enough to be annoying. Our kitchen crew actually cares though (don't tell the front staff), turning out proper handcrafted burgers, wings that'll make your fingers messy, and fries we'll probably throw at your table. Even got options for the plant-eaters among you, though we'll definitely judge your choices. Behind our bar, we pour cocktails with attitude, crack open beers while complaining about having to serve you, and mix soft drinks with theatrical disgust. The whole space fits up to 120 people who apparently enjoy being insulted while they eat. We've hosted everything from first dates (bold choice) to birthday parties where we make the guest of honor genuinely question their life choices. Our dining room transforms into whatever nightmare scenario you need – casual dinner with friends who'll laugh when we roast you, private events where we'll insult your entire group equally, or company parties where we'll definitely mention that terrible PowerPoint from last week's meeting. Every table gets the full Karen treatment: complaints about your order, comments about your outfit, and service so deliberately awful it becomes entertainment. Just remember – we closed permanently in May 2024 when our license wasn't renewed. Turns out even Karens have limits.
