About Newgate Street Village Hall
Our 200 square meter hall sits right across from Ponsbourne St Mary's Church, with common fields stretching out beside us. We've been hosting Hertfordshire community gatherings here at Newgate Street Village Hall for years, and we know what makes an event work. The sprung wooden floor runs the length of our main space, leading up to a raised performance stage that's hosted everything from wedding bands to children's puppet shows. We can arrange seating for up to 100 people, though many groups prefer to keep the floor clear for dancing or activities. The acoustics work particularly well for music events - just remember we need to wrap up the tunes by 11:30 pm to keep our neighbors happy. Through the double doors, you'll find our kitchen equipped with a full-size hob and oven, plus a large fridge that easily handles catering for bigger groups. We provide tea and coffee facilities, though you'll need to bring your own plates, cups, and cutlery. The serving hatch opens directly into the main hall, making it simple to manage refreshments during meetings or celebrations. We've got about 40 parking spaces in our car park, and our disabled washrooms are just off the main entrance. The building stays comfortable year-round with our heating system, and the large windows flood the space with natural light during daytime meetings. We welcome children's parties, christenings, wedding receptions, regular club meetings, exercise classes, and community functions. Please note we don't accept bookings for teenage parties or rave-style events. If you're planning to serve alcohol, you'll need to arrange your own license - we can point you in the right direction for that. Remember to factor in time for setting up and clearing away, as we need the hall returned to its original state after each booking.
