About Plush Oxford
Down in the vaulted cellars beneath the Oxford Union, we've been Oxford's home for LGBTQ+ nightlife since 2010. Our underground space sits right in the heart of the city near Carfax Tower, where historic brick arches create an intimate atmosphere that feels miles away from the everyday world above. We've designed Plush Oxford around two distinct bars - our main bar keeps the drinks flowing fast during busy nights, while our cocktail bar offers a more relaxed spot to catch up with friends. The VIP areas give groups their own corner to celebrate, and our sound and lighting systems transform the space when the DJs take over. You'll find everything from local craft beers to our collection of gins, plus wines and champagnes for those special moments. Our week revolves around regular events that bring different crowds together. Wednesdays see students pile in for "Quackers," where drinks won't break the bank and the dancefloor fills early. Weekend nights feature resident and guest DJs who know exactly what gets our crowd moving. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy on discrimination - everyone who walks through our doors should feel they belong here. For private parties, we can accommodate up to 360 guests. We've hosted everything from college bops with drag performers stealing the show, to corporate events where teams let loose after hours. The space works brilliantly for music events too - that underground acoustics and lighting setup creates something special. We open from 10:30 PM until 3:30 AM on select nights throughout the week. The combination of our central location, the history embedded in these cellar walls (everyone from Einstein to Churchill has passed through the building above), and our commitment to creating a genuinely welcoming space makes every night here feel like its own celebration.
