About Reading Lola Lo
Walking into Lola Lo Reading is like stepping through a portal. I started as a bartender here two years ago, and that first shift felt like I'd been transported to some hidden Polynesian hideaway—except it's literally two minutes from Reading station. The bamboo, the carved tikis, the way the lights catch the rum bottles... it's properly immersive. Our rum collection is borderline obsessive (over 150 bottles last count), and the bartenders here are genuine cocktail nerds who'll happily chat about agricole versus molasses-based rums while they shake up something spectacular. The dance floor gets properly sweaty on weekends, but we've also got these tucked-away booths where groups can have actual conversations. We handle everything from quick after-work drinks to full-blown birthday takeovers. The sound system is legit—none of that tinny speaker nonsense—and yes, we're fully accessible with proper air con that actually works in summer. The kitchen does sharing plates that pair brilliantly with the drinks. Reading nightlife can be a bit same-same, but we're definitely not that. Where else are you getting flaming cocktails served in actual pineapples on a Tuesday? Come check us out—worst case, you'll have some excellent rum.
