About St Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation and Peace
Our 14th-century arches frame conversations about peace and reconciliation every day at St Ethelburga's Centre, just minutes from Liverpool Street Station. We rebuilt this historic space after the 1993 IRA bombing, transforming destruction into something meaningful—a place where diverse groups come together for dialogue, celebration, and connection. The Nave blends medieval stonework with contemporary design, creating a space that works equally well for formal dinners and lively concerts. We've installed WiFi throughout, along with our built-in projector and sound system, so you won't need to bring extra equipment for presentations or performances. The adjoining kitchen opens directly into the main space, making catering seamless whether you're hosting a corporate conference or community workshop. Step through our courtyard and you'll discover something unexpected—our Bedouin Tent. We commissioned this 16-sided structure from craftspeople in Saudi Arabia, and they wove the covering from traditional goat's hair. Inside, cushioned benches circle the heated interior, creating an intimate setting that guests often describe as magical. Baby showers, strategy away-days, and meditation workshops all feel at home here, sheltered from the city's bustle by our peaceful garden. We operate a sliding scale pricing system because we believe meaningful spaces should be accessible. Small charities and individuals pay our base rate, while larger organizations contribute more, helping us maintain both venues for everyone's use. You can bring your own caterers or food, or we'll arrange everything from coffee service to formal dining. Guests frequently tell us they're amazed such tranquil spaces exist in central London. The combination of historic architecture, thoughtful modern additions, and our garden oasis creates an atmosphere people remember. Whether you book the Nave, Tent, or both spaces together, your rental directly supports our reconciliation work.

Lovely space. We used the Tent for our event and it was truly magical, an oasis in the midst of the city. The staff and volunteers were very helpful in ensuring that our event ran smoothly.

A unique venue with a special atmosphere and a warm, friendly welcome.

Amazing venue! Unbelievable that something like this is available in the heart of a busy city. I was so impressed with how the venue is managed - no interruptions and very respectful. I am already planning to book again,

Great Venue, lovely location. Absolutely horrible communication from the owner/s. Very unnecessary follow-ups and as a result, very disappointed!
