About The Bull
Our 1830s pub on Upper Street has been bringing people together for nearly two centuries, and we've learned a thing or two about throwing a proper party in that time. The Mezzanine, our semi-private party space upstairs, fits up to 38 guests for sit-down dinners or 50 for standing celebrations - perfect when you want your own area but still feel connected to the energy of The Bull below. The original Victorian architecture gives us those distinctive wrap-around windows that flood the space with natural light during afternoon gatherings, while evenings bring a warm glow from our restored period lighting. We've kept the best bits of our heritage - the timber beams, the original bar downstairs - while making sure everything works for modern celebrations. Food-wise, we serve proper pub classics alongside seasonal dishes, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options that actually taste good (no sad salads here). Our kitchen team can create sharing platters for your party or a full sit-down menu, depending on what works for your event. The bar stocks everything from local craft beers to classic cocktails, and we're happy to arrange welcome drinks or a dedicated bar tab for your group. The Mezzanine works brilliantly for birthday parties, engagement celebrations, leaving dos, or any excuse to get your favorite people in one room. Being right on Upper Street means your guests can easily reach us, and there's always that buzz of Islington life just outside. Plus, if some of your party want to join our famous Tuesday quiz downstairs afterwards, they're more than welcome - though we can't promise they'll win against our regulars.
