About The Design Museum
The hyperbolic paraboloid roof that crowns our building on Kensington High Street has become something of a landmark—you'll spot it the moment you approach from Holland Park. We're the Design Museum, and our Grade II* listed 1960s building serves double duty as both the world's leading contemporary design museum and a distinctive venue for meetings and celebrations. Our triple-height Atrium creates quite an impression when guests first walk in. We've hosted everything from corporate receptions to award ceremonies in this dramatic space, where the architecture itself becomes part of the event. For conferences and product launches, our Helene and Johannes Huth Gallery works beautifully—the floor-to-ceiling windows flood the room with natural light and frame views across the park. When you need a more formal presentation space, our Bakala Auditorium seats 202 people in theatre-style comfort. We've equipped it for screenings and presentations, and the acoustics are particularly good for panel discussions. During warmer months, we open up The Plaza and The Dame Sylvia Crowe Garden for outdoor gatherings—both spaces offer their own character for summer parties or networking events. Our catering partner, Restaurant Associates, focuses on fresh, locally sourced ingredients with plenty of plant-forward options. They work closely with our events team to match menus to occasions, whether that's canapés for a standing reception or a full dinner service. We're also working through our Environmental Impact Roadmap to make every event more sustainable. As a registered charity, every booking directly supports our mission to help people understand design's value in everyday life.
