Since 1824, The George & Monkey has been serving drinks to Islington locals from our spot on these picturesque backstreets. We're an independent London pub that's managed to keep its soul while moving with the times – stripped wooden floors match our bar, green panelling adds character to the walls, and skylights flood our spaces with natural light throughout the day. Our fifteen rotating draft taps pour the best UK craft beers we can find, and we've spent years building relationships with breweries who share our passion. Behind the bar, you'll spot our collection of specialist spirits, while our wine list changes with the seasons. The smell that often draws people in? That's our stone-baked pizzas cooking – they've become something of a signature here, perfect alongside a pint or glass of wine. We've got different spaces depending on what you need. The bar room holds up to 50 people comfortably, while our back room fits 100 guests when you want something bigger. Both areas give you that semi-private feel without losing the pub atmosphere. For special occasions, we can close the whole place for you – just depends on minimum spend. Groups of four or more can book ahead, though we always keep tables free for smaller groups and walk-ins. Monday Madness brings the regulars in, and our lunch deals work well for local workers. Whether it's birthday parties spilling into the back room, office celebrations taking over the bar area, or promotional events using our full space, we've hosted them all.
