About The Great North Wood
Right next to platform 1 at West Norwood station, The Great North Wood has been serving our community since 1864. We're the kind of pub where regulars prop up the bar chatting about the football while families tuck into Sunday roasts at the big tables by the windows. Our beer garden catches the afternoon sun beautifully – it's where you'll find locals with their dogs sprawled under the picnic tables, especially on warm evenings. Inside, the original Victorian features mix with comfortable seating areas where groups spread out with pints and our British pub classics. We keep things straightforward in the kitchen: proper fish and chips, hearty pies, and a Sunday roast that brings people back week after week. The kids' menu means families don't have to worry about finding something for little ones. For parties and celebrations, we've got two private spaces that work brilliantly. The Function Room holds up to 100 people standing – we've hosted everything from 50th birthdays to small wedding receptions here. The Common Room is more intimate, fitting 30 standing guests comfortably. Both spaces come with free Wi-Fi, and we can set up projectors and flipcharts if you need them for presentations or team meetings. We handle all the details, from welcome drinks to buffet spreads. Whether you're booking our function room for a big birthday bash, taking over the Common Room for after-work drinks, or just want to guarantee tables in the main pub for your group, we make it easy.
