The basement stairs at The Great North Wood lead you down to The Substage, where exposed brick walls and moody lighting create the perfect backdrop for your celebration. This isn't your typical function room – we've transformed our lower level into a space that feels more like hosting friends in your own basement bar, complete with a proper stage for bands or DJs. With room for 150 guests standing or 40 seated around tables, The Substage works brilliantly for everything from raucous birthday parties to intimate album launches. The wooden staircase adds character as guests descend into the space, while our small bar area keeps drinks flowing without anyone having to trek back upstairs. We've installed a full PA system with quality speakers, so whether you're bringing your own DJ or booking a live band, the sound will be spot on.
