About The Royal Stag
The Royal Stag has been pouring pints and serving hearty meals since the fifteenth century, right here on The Green in Datchet. We're the only pub left in the village now, which makes us feel pretty special - and responsible for keeping the community spirit alive. Our kitchen team starts early each day, preparing everything fresh on-site. We source ingredients from local suppliers whenever we can, and our Sunday roast has become something of a legend around here. Food service runs from midday until 8:45pm (last orders), though we keep the bar open until midnight. You'll find us open from 11am every day. The pub itself has all those features you'd hope for in a 500-year-old building - original beams, a proper fireplace that we light on chilly evenings, and plenty of quiet corners where you can tuck yourself away. The main bar area has comfortable seating overlooking the village green, while our restaurant space sits toward the back. When the weather's nice, our large patio area comes into its own. For parties and private gatherings, we have The Barn - our modern extension that works brilliantly for celebrations. It holds 40 people seated or up to 80 for standing receptions. We've hosted everything from birthday parties to corporate events in there, plus our regular karaoke nights and quiz evenings that draw quite a crowd. We're fully accessible with wheelchair access throughout, offer free Wi-Fi, and yes, dogs are welcome - we're only three miles from Windsor Castle, so we see plenty of four-legged visitors after their walks. Whether you're planning a special celebration, looking for somewhere to host your event, or just want a good meal and a pint, we're here every day making sure The Royal Stag remains at the heart of village life.
